Begin at the source
An official brand product page is the best place to verify the current name, size, ingredient list and packaging photos. It also helps you tell whether a listing is for the US version of a product. COSRX, Beauty of Joseon and Torriden currently show direct product pages; those links are below with real brand imagery.
A retailer can be convenient, but check the exact product page rather than assuming every product from that brand is stocked. At the time we checked, Ulta showed COSRX Advanced Snail 96 and Sephora US showed a Beauty of Joseon brand assortment. Stock, sellers, delivery areas and promotions can change.
Use a five-point checkout check
1. Confirm the seller named at checkout. 2. Match the full product name, size and packaging to the brand's page. 3. Look for readable ingredients, directions and warnings for the market you are in. 4. Check returns and customer service before ordering. 5. Treat unusually cheap bundles or stock photos with little product detail as a reason to investigate, not proof of a fake.
A barcode or photographed label can help compare a product to known information, but it cannot authenticate a batch by itself. Keep the receipt and packaging if something seems inconsistent, and contact the brand or retailer before using a suspicious product.
Understand the US version
Imported cosmetics sold in the United States still have to meet US requirements. The FDA does not generally pre-approve cosmetics, so 'FDA approved' on a regular face cream should prompt a closer look. Sunscreen is different: in the US it is regulated as an over-the-counter drug. A Korean sunscreen sold in Korea may have different filters, claims or packaging from a US-market sunscreen with a similar brand name.
If you buy while travelling or from a cross-border shop, check the destination, customs and product version at checkout. Do not assume a retailer ships to every US address simply because an older guide says it does.
Translate the pack before the hype
When you receive the product, compare the full INCI list with the listing and the claims that convinced you to buy. Project Glow's scanner can help explain ingredients, translate Korean or Japanese packaging and flag claims needing context. It cannot guarantee authenticity or confirm an unlisted concentration from a photograph.

A hydration-first essence with snail secretion filtrate, betaine, sodium hyaluronate, panthenol and allantoin. It is optional, and it is not an acne treatment or a substitute for moisturiser.

A richer moisturiser. The current published list starts with water, glycerin, hydrogenated polydecene, niacinamide and squalane; rice and ginseng are present later. Choose it for the full formula and feel, not a single hero extract.

An optional lightweight hydration step with glycerin, panthenol, several hyaluronate forms and allantoin in the current US ingredient list. A serum adds comfort for some routines but is not required for good skin care.

Frequently asked questions
Is Korean skincare bought online in the US authentic?
It can be, but the channel alone cannot prove authenticity. Prefer an official brand store or an identifiable retailer, and verify the exact seller and pack details.
Does an FDA-approved label prove a Korean cosmetic is safe?
Ordinary cosmetics are not generally FDA-approved before sale. US sunscreens have different regulatory treatment as over-the-counter drugs.
Can Project Glow's scanner detect counterfeits?
No. A label comparison can surface inconsistencies, but it cannot authenticate a product or batch.
Will a Korean sunscreen have the same formula in the US?
Not necessarily. Compare the active ingredients, Drug Facts or local label, product name and directions on the exact version being sold.
